Rev Derrick Wilks - Pastor
Derrick, along with his wife Ann, are the ministers of Leigh Elim Church. Derrick was a Police Officer for 22 years before joining the ministry. He is an evangelist with many years experience of running evangelistic crusades and meetings. He has a powerful and amazing story to tell. Derrick was the Regional Evangelistic Director for the Metropolitan East Region for many years and is a pasionate evangelist. Derrick and Ann have also have run a Harvest Time School of Evangelism in assocaition with Evangelist Marilyn Harry and Derrick is also a Police Chaplain. Derrick is passionate about food and the church regulalry hold outreach events around a food theme.
Rev Ann Wilks - Pastor
Ann was a music teacher for 25 years before joining the ministry. Ann is passionate about worship and loves to spend time in God's presence. Our Sunday evening services reflect some of this, as we encourage our people to encounter God in a powerful but gentle way. Derrick and Ann have two adult children and five grandchildren. Ann is the author of two Christian children's adventure novels: The Mystery at the Manor and Mystery of the Museum which are available on Amazon.co.uk. She loves painting and is an anointed Bible teacher.
John Young - Elder
John has been worshipping at Leigh Elim for over 25 years and has been part of the leadership team for more than half of that time. He is married to Iréne, who is the music worship leader and they have two sons, Tim & Rory. John has seen many changes over the years at church but the biggest change he has seen is the continued impact God makes in the lives of people who have found a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ. John's life has seen radical change over his many years personal relationship with God, has received miraculous healings and been given some gifts of the Holy Spirit to help other people. As an Elder, John has joint responsibility for spiritual and prayer development in the fellowship and has a prophetic edge. In addition he looks after church finances and is also one of our worship team drummers. Other than church roles, John has had a career in sales and sales management for major companies. He previously owned his own business along with Iréne and currently trains retailers to use EPOS till systems. He is also involved in a school as Chair of Governors.
Iréne Young - Deacon and Worship Leader
Iréne is the leader for all the music and worship teams in church. She also runs a music workshop for budding musicians once a month where any one of any standard can practice together. She has also been involved in organising worship for other church events, such as Street Pastors meetings with the support of the Worship Team at Leigh Elim.
Phil Purkiss - Deacon and Youth Leader
Phil is the leader of the growing group of young people at Leigh Elim, organising our 'Impact' youth club along with our team of youth leaders. He also plays a part in our worship ministry as part of the PA team and has also been involved in co-ordinating the Alpha course. Phil is active on our Church social media page, regularly promoting events and encouraging our Church with what he shares. Phil is continuing to devleop his role in ministry as a part of the Young Lions young leaders team.
Maureen Bottley - Decon
Maureen is responsible for the catering services at Leigh Elim church, including Sunday morning refreshments and catering for our larger Church events. With a background in catering, Maureen, along with her team of volunteers, produce great quality services for our church. Maureen is also passionate about prayer, and regularly encourages our congregation with her prayers for our church and our nation, and is continuing to grow in the gifts God gives her.
Maria Purkiss - Church Secretary
Maria is our church secretary and also in charge of church admin and our church website. As well this, she has been leading worship, teaching in Sunday School and supporting her husband Phil in leading our Youth activities. She has been a part of our Young Lions leadership program and is eager to step out in new ways to serve God, and she has a real passion for encouraging the young people in our church to step out in their faith in new ways.
Boram Lee - Prayer Missionary
Boram dedicated a year of her life to serve our Church. She travelled from South Korea as a prayer missionary, with the desire to pray for our Church, our local area and for the UK. Having been a part of the pray missionary teams that have visited the UK over the last few years, Boram took the bold step to come to be a part of our church, getting incolved in all areas of church life. Through her intersession, we are continuing to develop our attitudes to prayer, and continuing to see development and growth in our church.
We are incredibly blessed to have such a gifted team of leaders, and a great team of volunterers in our church.
